Patience and practice. You'll never develop the confidence this lure takes if you don't fish it.Alot.

Leave the rest at the dock and try just jigs the entire day and your confidence will go up. May not be that first day but at some point it will go up.

We have single lure tournaments here in MD that really test your metal. 20 guys show up at the dock with every possible rod and reel combo. 30 minutes before launch I hand out two lures to each angler. Sometimes it is topwater and other times it may be a jig. I supply the lures and they keep them. I do a little talk on how to use the bait and off they go. These single lure tourny's are the best learning lesson ever. Later in the day if they lose all the lures they can call me via cell and get another one with a one pound penalty. Just to fish the tourny gives them 5 lbs toward the club classic. So everybody wins.

A jig-n-pig is one of my favorite lures to use. I usually catch better size fish on them and some of my biggest fish are caught on them. I mainly fish them in 5' of water or less and mostly around wood cover. I never go to the water without a jig tied on one of my rods!!!!!

I threw them literally for years without catching anything on them. Then that magical first bass hit and now I have one rod rigged with one all the time. Keep throwing it-you WILL eventually get bit, and your confidence in this bait will soar.

Same thing with me, never caught a fish on one. This year I am determined to get the hang of it though and develop some confidence. The last few times on the water it took me 1.5 hours of trying different things to catch a fish and then I would get another about the time it was getting dark. Don't want to load my boat in the dark on that ramp so I had to head in. But I will keep trying the jig, one of these days I am sure it will pay off.

Fish the Jig just like you do any t-rigged bait you use now. Throw it in the same places, and work it the same way, you'll get bit. They are one of the best weapons in heavy cover you can use.
