Chatterbait?
Does anyone use these, I've heard they're illegal to use in some fishing tournaments. The Original chatterbait company makes the good one, but gambler, booyah, strike king and a few other have already came up with there own knock off chatters. Someone said they're the biggest thing thats happen to fishing in a while (not sure if it's true), what's real?

I catch Redfish and Trout with them a lot. Havent used them for bass, I'll get on it. They should work pretty well, they look good in the water.

you know....it seems like on here and most anywhere else people are split 50/50 as far as what they think of the chatterbait. usually people will either love it or consider it a useless piece of junk. i personally like them. now i'm not gonna tell you that i use them all the time in different situations. but i do have a few places where they are my first choice to use. in the dog days of summer like we are fighting now, i like to throw them around docks. the key for me is to throw along side the dock and let it sink just below whatever the dock is floating on. then retrieve it "slowly" keeping it deeper than the edge of the dock. bass will hide in the shade that these docks put off and are in a great place to ambush anything that swims by. there are a lot of other ways to catch fish on the chatterbait, and i am sure other guys on here will be talking about these soon. one more thing though, generally the hooks on a chatterbait aren't all that sharp out of the bag some are worse than others but all of them need a little time with a file, and check them often as they can become dull.

The saltwater versions of the chatterbait [not any difference honestly] have really sharp hooks. Thats probably the only difference between a freshwater and saltwater version [with the exception of a different trailer ofcourse]. They are great to use in sunny conditions, especially the gold bladed ones, they really shine through the water well.

I've used chatterbaits with pretty good success. My favorite time of year using them is in the early to mid spring when you want a slower moving lure with good action that can be worked shallow and mid depths. They are far from snag free, trust me on that one. You have to be careful around brush, but can be worked in brush with precise casting.

I've had a Booyah Boogee Bait for a coulpe of days now, but it's no good in my pond, clear water, no cover, no structure, and only 10-12" bass. I'm going to use it in a reservior near my house. I do like the action of it though.
If they work well, I'm going to buy more colors, I have Black/Blue right know.

I've had a six inch sea bass nail my chatterbait, so the 10-12" bass in your pond will too, it just depends on what they want. PLus you may hook up with a bigger one in there you dont know about. It resembles the flash of baitfish so I'm pretty sure it will work in your pond if you fish it in the right spots, with good sunlight.

Ive never had much luck on them, caught a couple bass then put away somewhere to get lost. I really doubt they are illegal in tournaments.

I have used them for a little while and have decent results. However I like the booyah boogie bait better myself. The bset thing about it is the leverage hook.

Chatterbaits are a nice bait that I like to add to a spinnerbait/buzzbait repertoire. I like the chatterbaits and Booyah Boogie Baits (I like the Booyah trailers better)

Check out http://www.karulures.com they put a different spin on it, and they will even do custom colors. I have no affiliation with them, I just like a good product.
