I am betting a 1/8th ounce is about as light as it will throw, with any distance..If you're looking for heavier line capacity, I'd go for a heavier model, although that reel pictured looks OK for the money..
Light lures are harder to throw on a baitcaster than spinning

Looks allright for the price. It should be a crappie setup as its a W.M. but used on a good medium rod it ought to cast 1/8th pretty good using light line. If youre looking for the distance with a 'caster look for either a wiffle spool or a wiffle with super free like a shimano-I dont think anything they make is not superfree anymore. Costs more but you get what you pay for. How do the user ratings on BP rate it? Always helps to yak with someone whos used it.

That looks like a cute little reel. If it can toss those tiny crappie jigs, it ought to handle bitsy minnows well. I think it would be ideal to have a rod that is able to toss 1/8 oz to make things easier for you.

For tossing lures in that range, I sure would love to have a Pixy.

I actually have a Lightnin rod, Im pretty sure its the same one. Does yours have the pistol like grip. Mines 5'6'' med action Hank Parker edition, Bought it from my freinds dad for $20, he never used it. It still had the plastic wrap stuff on the handle.

And would I be able to use Braided line

Rider I know of the perfect actioned LW cheap rod for this setup. The berkley cherrywood has alot of acton and just enough backbone to handle any panfish. Id reccomend the medium because I think thats all they come in as far as casting but theyll be avalible at walmart and they go somewhere around 20 bucks. Thats a sweet 50 dollar combo.
