Default Wide Wobble -vs- Tight Wobble Crankbaits

Well boys, up here in the northern states - Minnestoa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana - we have a small thing called "ice-up", just around the corner. With that being said, deer season, ice fishing, duck, goose, and woodcock season too roll around. But, my favorite thing of all, is just after this; Spring. In Spring, the crankbait is a very popular "search" type bait. So, how do you choose the right crankbait for Spring? Tight/Wide wobble of course!
With that statement being put forth, what bait style, wide or tight, is best for Spring? What colors? Brands, length, weight, sinking/floating?

Just thought I would put this out for all those people, including me, who have Winter just aorund the corner and are stoked for Spring. So, any suggestions?

-ll...P.S. - Good fishin' to ya'll who still have a couple months left!

My go to spring bait is a Red craw colored Spro Aruku shad 75 brand rattletrap.Don't ask me why red, all I know is that it flat out catches fish, especially in creeks, rivers, or on the breakoff of the flat where they stage up during pre spawn.

This bait will really produce during spawn seaon if you fish bass beds. This trap will sit upright on the bottom, not fall on its side like most brands will. P N J

In spring a slow rolled spinnerbait is my number 1 rod on the deck, HOWEVER my area isn't saturated in my mind until I go through with a 1/2 oz TIGHT WOBBLING Rattle Trap OR a Mann's Thin Man crankbait.

As they say, "Great minds think alike". I was thinking the same thing! Something like a Rat-L-Trap or a Bomber Flat 6A; something with a very tight wiggle motion.
Any other ideas though?

The other things I didn't mention, are the LV-0's I fish are the sinking type. They can be fished very slow for cold water presentations. The other thing is when buying a crankbait, buy at least 2 colors, make sure one is plain bellied and the other has a orange, or red belly on it.One will always outfish the other on a given day, but I don't know why. Hey PNJ, thanks for the tips! I'll keep that in mind next time while I am crank shopping - which hopefully will be soon. You know how it is, got to stock up for Spring!

One bait I plan to use during the spawn is a Norman 'Lil N. It dives about 1-2 feet deep, so I plan to catch bedders on it. If I catch the male off of a bed, and then release him immediately, will he still guard the nest? Just asking b/c I don't want to catch a fish and ruin 2,000+ fry that may be 6 pounders in 10 years...

Another good one is a Bandit Deep Flat Maxx. Red-crawfish-is the hot color in spring.

Norman Baby N; Apocalypse color

Lure on the bottom left...
