Senko,

While I was never involved with FFA or 4-H, I greatly admire those groups.
Keep up the good work and DO plow through the St. C. site. It's entertaining and informative.

I rely on falcon MH Action rods with a 12lb test. They are great bass rods and will last you a long time.

I like the "bass killer" from TTF take a look at Texas tackle factory. You get alot for your money with those guys. Awesome inshore rods too.

If this isn't a combo specifically for flip/pitch, I think I'd use something other than a Castic for general baitcast appications. I use the Japan version of the Castic - Scorpion Quickfire, it's perfect for that application. For general baitcast applications I prefer the Pflueger President, for finesse or lightweight baits I like the Pflueger Supreme with the magnetic spool drag. Either can be found for less $$$$ than the Castaic and will perform better for regular baitcast applications -IMO! The Castic is a very fine reel, but it has (for me) a limited, specific application for which it was designed. I don't believe it performs nearly as well for general baitcast applications. As far as the rod suggestions, invest in quality - regardless of brand - you will not be dissapointed and you won't be replacing it in a year or two (been there and done it). This is especially true for rods that will be used for plastics and jigs, where you really need to feel the bait.

I thought the triumph would be a decent rod considering the price, and I also made the mistake of thinking it would be comparable to the premier. However, I could not have been more disappointed in a rod. It has absolutely no senstivity, and I only use it now as a topwater rod. I have one premier spinning rod and I think it's a good middle quality rod. After having purchased two fenwick Techna AV's in the last year however, I don't see me ever spending another penny of my own money on anything but a fenwick.

Thanks Zook. My fishing partner seems to be convinced that Loomis is the only company that makes decent rods. He has allowed me the "privilege" of using his rods a few times. Up to this point I am not convinced that his rods are any more sensitive than my Fenwicks, and honest not much lighter either. When you consider his looms are about twice the price I am perfectly content to stick with what I have.

true i have a pile of fenwicks. i do have a hand full of others but keep going back to fenwicks..loomis are nice but with the techna av sticks being 1/2 what a g-stick cost wise is. i am not afraid to beat the fenwick like it owes me money.

i have had my techna av ever since they come out with them. only 2 things i really have had happen is two eyes have come loose.- i reglued them- and you would think that on a higher end stick they would put a decent hook holder on the rod.not that i use them anyway..
