Re: hard jerk baits!
who do you think makes the better jerk bait. rough, rapala, or strike king??
Theres no question that Smithwick makes the rattling rogue and its by far the best suspending jerk bait. I have always found the husky jerk a little heavier in the front, if you jerk hard you'll notice it tumbles downward first and then side to side.. And by far Rapala is my first choice on top water stick or jointed baits, but I still would recommend rogues one of my favorite colors |

It has nothing to do with muscular strength, its all about muscular endurance. I keep in shape, but ain't all that strong. But I've got really good endurance and I can do stuff where most people will get tired after an hour or two for a much longer time. |

Re: hard jerk baits!
Rogue is alright, you have to doctor them with suspend dots to make them suspend correctly and catch fish.By far the Strike king KVD wild shiner series suspending jerkbaits are the best I have ever used right out of the box, followed by the bomber suspending pro A. I hate jerkbaits because they will put blisters on your blisters if your working them correctly for any length of time. P N J

Re: hard jerk baits!
ya, i am working on endurance now. im doing more reps and sets and soon i will be able to throw a crank for awhile. i still think it will take a while till i can throw one all day straight. it really works out my wrist.

Re: hard jerk baits!
Here's one I made for my self a bass pattern, this has no clear coat but when it does it will get green glitter to make it shine!
Its all about knowing how to use a jerk bait and your right Kevin Van Dam is one of the best I've seen so far! I like to use a fast presentaion with mine. You can move alot of water with this bait, and pull fish from their strike zone from as far as ten feet. This bait is what kills the bass's curiosity, they will go after this type of bait in the spawn, and post spawn more than any other bait. Just walk it by the nest about 5 to 10 feet out. Â*Robby. |

Re: hard jerk baits!
PNJ,
You made my day. Man what I would do to be that Bud Light. LOL. You muscle men out there tell me what the heck lifting weights has to do with fishing? You guys using bench press bars as flipping sticks? I will agree 100% that fishing jerk baits and deep running cranks will wear you out and it helps to be in good shape but how much you bench and curl doesn't have a thing to do with it. |

i was just stating that fishing these lures will wear you out, no matter how strong you are.

Strap, I cannot take credit for that picture, I just dragged up the past . A guy named Spike posted it back in 2002. It took a while to locate such a posting, but I found her again. It would have been better if she were holding a flipping stick instead of a spinning outfit. ;D P N J

Re: hard jerk baits!
yesterday i went out to buy one (the new x-rap) and i got the gold color one (it looked like a shiner) when i got home i tied it on and went fishin. At first i didnt catch nothin but when i saw where all the fishe were jumping (out on some flat) i decided to try it out there. At first i was jerking it like i regurly do a plastic jerk bait and i didnt get a bite but then i started ripping that thing through the water and when i say ripping i mean it, first cast doing that i got nailed by a nice 3#er then a couple min. later i got another 2#er and then about 15-20min later i got the biggin that fatty weighed 7#s.
p.s. can you guys tell me why the ripping retrieve worked while the regular retrieve diddnt. |

Re: hard jerk baits!
Lucky Craft Pointer. 78 and 97 sizes.
Caught alot of bass on these including some fish in the 6 lb range. The hooks are super sharp. Try American Shad or Aurora black for sunny conditions. The 97 has three sets of hooks while the 78 has two. |

Well that's easy it looks like a minnow darting after bugs or it's wounded and to a big bass it means the little minnow is distracted and is an easy meal. (lunch time) Robby. |

Re: hard jerk baits!
submerged srtucture, humps, rocks, weeds. right over the top of it. or just right in the middle of open water, use a suspending jerkbait, that goes as deep as the water. works for me. i have just started using them so i havnt got to many on it, but the ones i have got were in these areas.

Re: hard jerk baits!
Yes,they do work.I've caught a lot of fish with a Rogue. Most of the fish that I catch tend to be bigger fish. The Rogue is a big fish bait.
