We don't have bass seasons in Connecticut per se, although some lakes that have bass may have a closed season (usually 3 weeks) if they stock trout on that lake. These lakes tend to be closed from March 31st until the 3rd Saturday in April (Opening day of trout season).

There is one lake in Pa that doesn't have a "closed" season. it is Pymatuning lake on the border of Pa and Ohio. Just like anywhere else if you catch a bass during "closed" season throw it back. In Pa there are two seasons-fishin and huntin.

Most of the lakes have a length enforcement rather than a "season"

Some have a certain number you can take over 12 inches, like perhaps 6 but here in oHIo
bass are open season 365 days a year

Bendersbe, In my area or region #8, you can catch and release starting May 1st until 3 rd saturday in June, which regular season opens. There are a few lakes excluded from my area such as Cayuga, Otisco, Owasco , Skaneateles Â*Lakes. These lakes have to wait until the third saturday in June with the rest of NY state.;D P N J

MN's bass season is closed from Feb. 19 until May 14 or 28, depending on location. Like NY, it is illegal to intentionally fish for any species during its closed season.

but as long as you dont keep them, there shouldnt be a problem.
BF02, that might be correct some of the time, but different conservation officers might treat offenders differently, just like if you're caught speeding, one cop will let you off with a warning and another one will issue a ticket.

how? the only reason they have a season up there to help with conservation, it has nothing to do with the fisherman, its the local law. nothing they can do about it. northerners can be just as big a bass fishermen then anybody else, and some are better, i know theres alot of northerners on this board that are better then me, and i live in the south.

Bassfisher, those yankees can be better at catching bass, look at bassintom, but a lot of them choose to fish for the yankee fish, IE trout, walleye and salmon and thus bass are like a secondary species to them. Â*

02, He was just trying to put a joke over on us Northerners. I suspect he would feel right at home up here fishing for trout, or Pickerel. The only reason he was born in the south is because his parents wern't from the North. With a plain Jane name like Wes he could have been a snowbird, migrated South for the winter and forgot to fly back home. ;D P N J

sounds like pnj aimmed that one at ME...
i do fish for other stuff at times.

although wes is a newbie normally ingored by most of us-like you new guys aint figured that out yet-he does raise a point i have fished both styles-northern and southern-more to the point large mouth and small mouth. southern bass fishing focuses on large mouth bass almost completely. this is not to say there is no small mouth bass in the south. just we don't fish the deep ledge style normally accepted as smallmouth/northen style. while junior does fish southern style-he don't know it- il and jb probly see more of both style's than any body on this board.

zook,what am i?chopped liver?...swinging bridge,cayuga,delaware river,merrill creek,,mostly smallies..but i can catch LM's also.
and if i fish round valley reservoir throwing in line spinners i can get LM,SM and minnows(trout).
put one of the southern boys in the environment we have here, they'd be hard pressed to catch a bass...unless they are pro.(maybe prokid is an exception, lol)and yes i can catch those southern basses also.(having fished fla.waters for the past 12 to 14 yrs).
IMO if you are a northern basser it can be difficult to catch southern bass and vice versa.that said..again IMO,i think if you can catch fish in the north it would be easier to catch a bass in the south than it would be for a southerner to catch bass in the north.
don't beat me up guys, just my opinion. ;D

i know, i was pickin him alittle, i just dont see it as north south. i think crappie take the place as the secondary fish down here like small mouth do up there. i think if i went up north i could catch a smallie or two. i dont even think a smallmouth inhabits a body of water in florida, shame tho, i would tear em up ;D

if you never caught a smallie, how do you know you'd tear them up?...smallies can be a finicky fish.
how would you know to find them suspended 30ft down in 90ft of water?then,if you find them there, what do you use to catch them?
seriously, nothing is cut and dried when it comes to smallies...ask PNJ.
