Default Trailer Hitch hook up.

I have a question. I just bought an '87 Skeeter Strada f-80, 60hp mariner (pretty good condition).

the trailer has the sliding lock on top, not the standard flip, that you can place a lock through to lock it to your hitch of the truck.

Question is how do i lock it down when it is hooked to my truck (for theft also)? I know it slides forward and the prongs go into the slots but how can i lock it down? if i hit it up it slides up and just does not seem secure enough to me.

i got the same type on my lawn mower trailer however it is a newer trailer and it has a lock hole setup.. love that type lock up though strong as nails.-important when you run up the tail gate with a 1500 pound lawn mower..

That is the BEST trailer hitch made. Clean her up and shoot some lube on her. To lock it down after putting iton the ball you have to kick the top of the hitch forward. It will drop down after locking into place.
