any tips for fishing at night

a couple buddies and myself are planning a night trip to bantam lake in ct ,
it has a good bass population even though the focus of the night will be northern pike i plan to try for a few bass while there any ideas about lure selection for after dark or any tips at all would help a lot .

I don't know where you are fishing (banks or in middle of lake) but from what I have read dark colored worms seem to do the trick. June bug and black seem to be the most common night colors. Hope this helps!? Good Luck.

Use short armed single spin spinnerbaits or Texas rigged power worms. I like red shad or Tequilia sunrise at night. Fish the same pre spawn spawn areas you would fish during the day at this time. Dont forget flouresent line and a black light. Line watching equates to more fish in the boat. Fish2win

Probaly too cold for topwater there yet, but a Black jitterbug is just about as good as it gets during the summer. They make a Black spinnerbait(Midnight Special by strike king I believe), with a single colorado blade, that can be purchased just about anywhere. Make sure you add a culy tailed grab in black to it. The whole idea is to produce more vibrations/noise to draw the fish to your bait. IE curly tailed wormed, LIZARDS, creature baits,or even better yet a zipper style worm. I haven't ever tried a chatterbait at night (Since moving to florida I don't attemp it with the big gators lol)but I would assume it would perform very well. Black is my color of preference, but adding rattles to your plastics is also a good idea. As Fish2Win already stated, black lights and flourescent lines are awesome for night fishing. However I wouldn't go to the exspense of that unless you plan on fishing a lot at night. A good head/hat mounted light is also a very good tool. Good fishing.

like was mentioned above, a black light and flourascent line is a must for me when i am using anything where seeing my line can help detect bites like a jig, plastic worm, lizard, or salt craw.

buzzbaits can be killer at night too!

hey guys the trip went pretty well got 6 small largemouths all between 10 and 14 inches long but nothing spectacular . i didn't have much luck with the jointed lure but the spinners were getting hit at a good rate all in all i am pleased with the trip the fish could have been bigger but the water temp is still pretty cold up here so the bass should get bigger as it gets hotter thanks for the advice guys

Fishin at night is a blast. Jitterbugs are great, and if you don't mind, puttin out a couple live/cutbaits or even jugs for catfish livens things up.
