Default Anybody use an Alvey Reel?

Wondering if anybody has used this odd type reel. I bought one the other day but haven't spooled it up yet. In theory it looks like it should be able to cast further than spinning reels, just have to get used to the design.

http://alveyusa.com/products/sidecastreels.php Still haven't spooled it up yet. Being that it spools up roughly 400 yards, I'm gonna have to buy some bigger spools of line for this bad boy. I'm hoping I spool up some 10 lbs power pro on this reel with a 7 foot rod and be able to cast some of my heavier flys a little further, but we'll see just how good that works. Hopefully I'll spool it up sometime this week. I've been dying to use it, thats for sure. Either gonna love it or hate it.

I've already got regular spinning reels, and already have the avocet as a matter of fact. The guy at the local bait shop showed the Alveys to me. Told me him and some others have been using them and he can't get over how far they cast. If it casts a considerable amount further than typical reels, I would say the hassle of rotating the spool before and after each cast would be worth it. I seem to have more luck with buzzbaits using long casts with slow retrieves. Hopefully this will do the trick.
