Default Baitcaster question

I also like deep crank baits like the Norman's DD22 and I have tons of luck with them..but I can't seem to find a reel that holds up to the abuse of ripping them thru water. I'm not loaded but I would be willing to spend up to 200.00 on a reel

Need advice!!!

i have a few of the david fritts crankbait reels and love them. with the slower gear ratio i can throw deep diving crankbaits all day with very little wear on my arms.

You def want a lower geared reel and the revo winch is sweet . It has a 5:3 ratio i believe if you could find something geared lower I would try that as well .

David Fritt's reel from bPS (nice and not too expensive), Daiwa Zillion Crazy Cranker reel, or Abu Winch.

Becareful of the Abu winch. It only pulls 20.6 " of line per turn of the handle but its a 5.4:1 gear ratio.I still think it will wear your arm out cranking DD22's for any length of time due to the 5.4:1 ratio.

That ebay fritts reel is a 6.3:1 gear ratio and the mother pulls 28" per turn of the handle. That is probably why its for sale dirt cheap. Buy a 4.7:1 gear ratio in the Fritts reel if your buying a DD22 cranking reel.

Of course , this is only my opinion . Ivan

The Zillion may be a 4.9:1 gear ratio, but that's not always as important. It still brings in more line than the winch. The winch brings in about 21 while the zillion brings in 22.

What C-rig said. Throwing a DD-22 isn't any harder than throwing a Bandit 200 with these reels.

Yeah don't get that fritts reel on eBay, like it was already stated it 6.3

Better to have a reel no more than 5.1 gear ratio. I've thought about picking up a couple of Fritt's 4.7 reel but, I think I'll stick with 2 of my 5.1 Energy E750PT reels. Didn't have a problem pulling DD22 in. Those reels can be found for less than 100. Retail was 190.

Buy the Revo Winch. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! I've been using one for the last 2 months and it's one of the best reels I've ever owned. You can get it at tackle warehouse for $169.
