Default I tried, but I think they are COLD!!

I went fishing last week to a place in my hometown in North Florida called BLACK CREEK. Let me say this place looks BASSY!!. Lillipads, downed trees and slightly stained water. The temp of the water was 52 degrees and on the average 12-15 ft. deep. The edges drop off fast with lillipads spread sporadically from the shore line out about 30 feet. Man, I threw 4 diff. jigs with diff. trailers in the lillipads and came up with nothing. After getting bored with the jig, hours later I tried fishing a black plastic worm in the pads with no results. I fished mostly jigs and soft plastic and caught nothing all day. Well, I am going back tomorrow. The weather should be partly cloudy and about 60 degrees but we had 6 inches of rain the last 2 days. The creek will be much higher than normal because of the rain. Should fishing be better after the HEAVY rain?? Will these rains increase the temp a few degrees and make the bass a little more aggressive?? And what about a suspending crankbait on the outskirts of the lillipads, really slow?? HELP!!!!

I'd try throwing weightless plastics and try to keep them in the deeper water.

Try tubes or a big spinnerbait(1/2 oz.) with a big colorado blade slow rolled through the pads.
Good Luck

Your complaining about Florida bass being too cold? I would fish a jig aroun the pads. I can catch bass up in MO when there is ice on the lake. Don't say its too cold. Just fish slower.

Anybody else think that might have something do do with it ?

B.D., how clear is the water? 6" of rain in 2 days(around here, anyway) would muddy it up good. I'd try closer to cover and slow down. If you can get a surface temp that would give you a good idea as to what to do.

Nice fish, Joe!

rain normally cools the water temps. if it is muddy stick with the jig but note if it is sunny. if it is your fishing to DEEP bass move shallow in muddy water less than 12" of water at times.. it is just a matter of fishing slow and shallow..

Well you gotta think about one thing. The rain that you had 2 days ago was it a cold rain or a warm rain. Zook no funny remarks here.LOL If the rain was a cold rain it lowered the temps and if warm rain of course raised the water temp.

ZOOK............behave I KNOW WHAT YOU THINKIN

Anyway I would adjust my fishing to that fact and look for the fish in real deep cover or possibly on the ledge out close to deeper water and as everyone else stated SLOWWWWW.

I always thought the only time it was too cold to fish is when you cant feel your fingers.

Nah, the only time it is too cold to fish is when you can't chop a hole big enough to get the boat in. And even then most of us are crazy enough to try to figure out another way.
