Default Weekly Lake Fork Fishing Report

Well, the recent cold front has slowed the bite. The fish were ready to move up and the temp dropped and the water temp dropped and the fish got real skittish. The recent rain did bring the lake up a little but not much. Some back areas of creeks are muddy. The grass up north is really getting thick and the fish are bedding up in it. Hopefully this next front wont drop the water temp again and stall out the spawn. The fish want to get their eggs laided but the water changing temp is stopping this. The surface temp is in the upper sixties but the trolling motor temp is still in the upper fifties. Soft jerk baits like the Wave Bamboo, Tiki Stick, Lake Fork Tackle Ring Fry, and Wacky worms are the baits of choice. The light weight Carolina rig is a good bait to get out in five to seven feet of water and work the banks and small points. SLOW is the ticket. The bedding fish are a little hard to catch but can be caught with a little work.
The crappie have even been effected with the water temp drop. There are some fish being caught around the bridges. Minnows on floats around timber and the banks have worked and jigs on the bridges.
