Bitsy bugs for smallies

I have a white bitsy bug that I plan to use for small mouths. Is the black better? And does the white still work? One more thing. Does it help if you have a trailer? And what trailers to use?

I think those jigs are too small I cant find a small enough trailer unless you chop one up

You can put a small Yum Craw Pappi on the end of it and it will work fine. Zoom makes a Tiny Chunk also that works. Black with work just fine for smallmouths. I've never fished a white one but with a white trailer it would probably catch some fish. My first choice would be the black jig.

I like black better too. Like 3d said, ZOOM tiny chunk works great. Strike king also makes a "Bitsy Craw" trailer specifically for the bitsy bug. I haven't tried that one yet.

I can't say much about them for small mouth, but I can say about the bistly bugs.

Those are small indeed! A few things I don't like about them, is they don't have rattles, so you have to buy them. Yes, never used them without a trailer, chunks are better for flipping large mouth, I think that a craw type trailer would be better for casting smallies, Peca craw jr would be good! I would used craw color.

How about a natural crawfish color for the jig?

Two of the best inland lake smallmouth guys I fished with use black bitsy bugs, usually with green pumpkin super chuck jr. The crayfish around here are not very big. When you catch fish look in their mouths to see how big and what color the crayfish are and try to match that, or look near rocks along the shore.

Since all of you are telling me how awesome the black bitsy bug is I'm going to get one tommorow. Can I use it without a trailer though because I ordered some tiny paca chunks and they won't be here until Tuesday or something.

While you can certainly use a BB that way, it won't be nearly as effective without a trailer. For now you may want to try using a grub or part of a plastic worm as a trailer. Doesn't have to be a craw or chunk.
