May or may not be depending upon locale, some states will not permit anyone to fish for bass at certain times of the year, meaning closed till after or when they think it will be after.
Is it any more immoral than snagging other species of fish like paddlefish, yes it is,but neither one do I personally like.Often you find something you may find immoral isnt illegal.
Being individuals we all have a varying sense of that, but would like to think the average fisherman would think like me but not all do.

In TX, I believe it is illegal to purposely snag any game fish. It would be hard for me not to do something about someone snagging bass off of beds, that's not cool at all.

I think it's illegal in almost every state and certainly unethical!

Illegal in every state as far as I know, definately not anything to be bragging about, like shooting a trophy buck in a pen.

Honestly I don’t know about catching bedding bass at all but that’s another discussion that will go on and on

I'm almost sure purposeley snagging fish is illegal. Accidental foul hooking does happen. It is still ridiculous people would ever snag bass off bed.

Sight fishing for a bass that is on a bed is one thing, but intentionally snagging them is about as low as it gets. There is no way I could have made it through that conversation without letting him know exactly how I felt about it.

Not sure about any laws about it, but if I catch someone snagging bass off bed on purpose we're going to have words...

If a DNR officer finds you snagging a bass here in Indiana, your likely to loose all your tackle that you have with you and face a stiff fine. It's totally and completely wrong as well as unsporting.

I definitely would have had an issue with it, to the point in which one of us would have probably toted an a** whoopin after my opinion was expressed. Sorry about the harshness but I don't think I'm alone in feeling that way. If you want to bring the redneck out in this ol' boy that's a great way to do it. I felt my blood pressure rise just by reading that.

I despise snagging 100% and it is illegal in most ways in my state.

Wally, however, I need to know how you are defining snagging. In my state, it is the hooking of a fish in which it does not willingly take your lure or bait. For example if people see a school of fish swimming by, they throw the hooks into the school and try to hook a fish anywhere on its body, that is snagging and therefore illegal because the fish didn't willingly take the bait.

But if here targeted the bass and got it to willingly bite, that would be legal in my state.

I choose not to target bedding bass because I see no honor in that challenge and this is my choice. I would hope that people would elect to do the same but I know that many can't resist. I believe that targeting bedding bass is legal in my state but intentionally snagging bass or any fish is not.

So please tell me what you mean when you say snag. As that one rag's motto says, inquiring minds want to know, lol. Thanks!

The reason why you see BASS and FLW guys showing the camera that the fish is caught in the mouth while bed fishing shows that the fish ate the bait and weren't "snagged" which would make them illegal in most states.

Not a fan of snagging any fish, Especially Bass. I have bed fished but the bass were quickly returned to their business.

Who does some "ish" like that and then walks around telling people about it?

It's kinda like sleeping with a fat chick, you don't want to anyway, but if you do you don't tell anyone about...

What a moron, that guy...
