Can you buy all that foot control stuff and hook it up to a trolling motor that has a handle for steering instead of a foot control.

I was hoping you would tell me, I'm lookin' at a jon boat for $100 by itself or $300 w/ seats, batt., and trolling motor. But I don't have 300 but do have 100 and some left over for such extra stuff.

Not sure how much you have to spend, but Basspro has some nice 36 lb thrust for around 100 bucks. If you do some checking around where you live you might find one cheaper that someone might be selling.

What size jon are you looking at? Seats are a must, the first time out, sitting w/out backsupport, your back will throb! 36lb pushes our 14ft nicely.

Both are 12' footers I'm looking at but I'm now thinking of going back to the original plan of two canoes and we already got one!
