Default braid

i didnt know how to word this....... ill give an example... say you wanted to throw a light lure that you would normally throw with 8 pound mono. but instead, you have 30 pound power pro.since it has a DIAMETER of 8 pound test, would the super braid act like the mono when casting besides the braid characteristics?

thanx,

senko

If you are referring to getting the crankbait to the same depth as mono probably not since braid is not "smooth" like mono so there wil be more resistance in the water but I doubt it would make a whole lot of difference. Mono might get it to 6' where braid might only go 5 1/2'.

i mean like you cant really throw light plastics with 30 pound mono but you would with 8 lb, right? so since 30 lb braid has a diameter of 8 lb mono, will it cast similar? its hard to explain...

thanx for the answers,
senko

Yes, the casting is almost the same. Braid creates more friction than monofilament ( because itīs braided and not smooth ), friction which reduces the casting distance but not THAT much, itīs a matter of a few inches the difference.
