Default A winter Sunday teaser.....

Being pretty new to the fishing scene, I am still not real sure of what all water is available in my area for fishing. Accessible is probably a better word than available. I am extremely lucky to have very occasional access to a private lake full of fish and no pressure about forty five minutes away. But I am on the hunt for water I can get on anytime I want. Especially those with jonboats for rent so I can put my tm on and have at it. So this afternoon, I drove 40 mins to a 100 acre county lake I found online. There are bass (as well as crappie, bream and cats) in it according to the pics on the website.

I finally found it but never got to see the water since the access road was blocked until the season opens - tomorrow! I called the lake mgr and asked about the fishing: "People take 9 and 10 pound bass out of the lake all the time" she told me. I realize it is probably a bit of hyperbole and its not like she's gonna say the fishing sucks. But MAN I hope she is shooting straight! And the pics online do look promising. It's kind of in the boonies, boats are five bucks for the day. I can't wait to check it out so when the water warms up, I'll be familiar with it and ready to slay 'em. Until then, my fingers are crossed.....

How about sharing some info with a link CIS. You might have a state forum like your next door neighbors in MS do, that's me. That could help you find some public water to get on. I also like to do aerial maps and find a tack areas on MSN maps and Google. You might be able to stop an old farmer and offer him some fresh fish if he will let you go on his place.

BB I found it on http://www.outdooralabama.com/fishin...ooralabama.com. A great site. Also have been using google earth to get a better feel for some of the lakes around here.

Bibb. On the topic of public lakes, have you ever fished Inlet Lake BB? I've never laid eyes on it but I'm gonna have to scout it out too.....
