having seen this combo it appears to be alright.
what exactly are you going to use on this rod?soft plastic's,cranks, blades, ect

the problem with outfit's like cabelae's or bps is they classify ande line as salt water tackle-why? who knows-if you are tending to use this set up for any thing other then crank baits . personally i would go with 10-12 pound line. cajun makes a good line fairly cheap .

remeber most rods put on a recomended line size average .basicly they that a thick mono line -spider line super mono and a thin line -cajun lighting- then they average the thickness to get a "recomended" line size.
never use the "el cheapo" mono found in walmart it comes in a bunch of differant names eagle claw is one of them. this stuff is pure trash...

I've tried Pflueger once! (once being the key word). The rod snapped on the first hookset ( a 2 pd white fish). The reel also was very akward. If you've never tried them before, you may find you don't like the way the reel feels. I've used Shimano exclusively and Quantum occasionally for the last 3 years. The Plueger is just a differant feel from what i was used to.

BTW, mine was the solara combo i believe. Best of luck with your new set-up.

zook, more than likley, light crankbaits but mostlikely worms and jigs

go 10-12 #test. it is thin enough to use cranks -not deep runners-but will hold up better on worms a jigs.

It's just my opinion, but for worms and Jigs I would definately get a Medium Heavy rod, but for cranks I would go with the Medium. These are my preferences for these baits, but of course it your decision. Just think that a MH is a very good all around rod, a M is a little light for Jigs, and worms, especially if you are using any kind of bigger weights, like on a c-rig. Plus it has a little more backbone for hooksets.
