Default jig and tube heads

hey guys how do you guys keep the hooks from rusting on your tube jigs? i have a buddy pour my tube heads and after a couple weeks in the boat they start rusting and i throw them away. does anyone spray wd 40 on them to give them a coating to keep them from rustin?. did i not see where wd 40 was used on soft plastics as a attranticate? thanks mount
