Question Clean-up

I apologize if this is a repost & Also for posting in wrong section :{

I replaced the carpet in my fiberglass boat & now I am trying to clean up the excess glue that has dried. I spoke with my neighbor & he suggested to use oven cleaner? I wasnt sure if this would hurt/compromise the fiberglass.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove dried boat glue without leaving those little gray metal marks when using a scraper??

Be VERY careful what you use on gelcoat and use it SPARINGLY. Any type of solvent can have an adverse effect on gelcoat. Nail polish remover has acetone in it. Remeber use VERY little. I have used lighter fluid and had no ill effects on the gelcoat. Havent tried wd40 but I would think it would work. While on the subject of carpets and glues be careful when using fish scents. The deterorate the carpet glue in your boat. If you spill any of the liquid scents our water on the sots as soon as possible to minimize the effects.
