Opinions on crank bait rod
I have been wanting to get a crank bait rod for deep divers. I have a St Croix premier 7ft med crankbait rod. Since I have read that some people say that St Croix are under rated do you think it would handle deep diveRS? Also, what brand and weight of line do you suggest? The rod is rated up to 3/4 ounce.

I really don't see any reason other than weight to spend big bucks on a crankbait rod. I would try a 7' ugly stick!
 It's fiber glass, so it should work pretty well!

bassboss, as far as not needing aa good rod for crankbaits, it helps to have one specificly made for crankbaits so u have a whispy tip so u dont pull the crankbait out the fishes mouth when u set the hook. u can get away with other rods but it will cause a lot of frustration.

i just got a call from tim at tigerodz this evening and he said that my new crankbait rod is on it's way. as soon as i recieve it i will let you know what i think. the one i am getting is a 7 1/2" mh for big crankbaits like deep divers or big square bills, tim also has other models for you to choose from. if this rod is anything like his jig rods you really should look long and hard at them because i have yet to use a better rod and i have used about all of the big names out there.
