Default critter baits?

when is the best time to use critter baits -bush hogs,wild things,bird dawgs,ect...
time of year and water temp will work.

I like em after the water hits around 60. Once it drops back below 60, I will flip a JNP or a Flippin tube.

As far as the time of year, whenever the bass dig into the heavy stuff from late spring through fall.

Not to good after a cold front though. Smaller more subtle baits work best then.

I use them pretty much year round down here. Fortunately for me I dont get that drastic dip in water temp until Dec or Jan. and thats only for a short time.

Here on the left coast, I like to use the creature baits all year long. As the weather gets colder I prefer to use the smaller creature baits. In so many words, downsize when it gets colder.

when you said smaller you made me think of 1 of my all time favorite baits...ZOOM tiny brush hogs ;D

You got it Nick. The tiny brush hogs also work well for jig trailers. I also use the tiny brush hogs split shotting.
