Interesting concept, the but skirts look very cheap and thin to me.

I like it. It's pretty much just a Texas rigged crawdad dressed with a type of skirt of the sort typically used to dress trolled ballyhoo in saltwater (another instance of a basser tapping readily available materials from the world of saltwater fishing). And it's led by what looks like a whopping 3oz tungsten weight.

The worst we get up here are real thick pads and I usually punch em with a jig but I like the idea even though it doesn't suit my immediate needs .

If you dont pitch and flip you dont need it anyway, they dont get shallow where we live, but they look like it will give the bait a bigger profile and something they havent seen too much of yet

I just made one of those , but I dont have any heat shrink , so my BMF hook doesnt have the keeper yet. I will try to figure out how to post it. I didnt use quite the weight , and the weight I did use a guy around here makes , it has a skirt on it already.

That's exactly what I need. I have mats of alligator grass that are a foot deep. I've had moderate success with other weighted jigs but that system looks better than anything I've tried. It's the whole system that's impressive. Thanks for the heads-up.

Both Zooker and I have invented this lure independently of each other before. Zook called it the demon as I recall.

I tried it at G'ville once or twice, just screwing around. Don't remember if I landed a bass doing it, I do remember some bass following it out of milfoil.

Its good cause I dont like throwing jigs into heavy heavy weeds. I think they have a tendency to disappear a bit more. I like jigs for hard bottoms around wood/rock. If its a much bottom, wont throw a jig.

Default These punch rigs are pretty sick

Also - if you guys didn't know it, Paycheck baits also has the Old BMF hook - now called a Punch Hook.

I actually use this skirt when not punching, fishing thick grass in as much as 20 feet. Nothing worse than pulling a jig up every cast with a pound of crap on it. Using as little as a 3/8 ounce weight and a regular light wire hook and a trailer type bait, worm, creature bait or anything else... add a skirt to it and get more of a jig look.

Pretty cool stuff.

Some great colors too!

Check the colors out
