I odn't use crankbaits. Everywhere I fish has tons of snags so I almost always use soft plastics. But when I do fish up north, you gotta love rapala.

A crankbait like any other bait is just a tool. They're designed to do a specific job. If a Rapala is the best tool for the job, I'll use it. If something else is, I'll use that.

Having said that, I will admit that I do like the Original Rapala floating minnow better than other baits in the same class. Being balsa they float differently, but the Rebel minnow is real close behind it.

I don't really care for other Rapala crankbaits.

Bandits and Poe's are my favorites...The RC-1 and RC-3 are two fish catching baits, but like Cajun said, theyre just another tool, and you need the right tool for the right job

Cajun,

I just got to say when it comes to crankbaits rapala does all jobs, not just one.

But I do get your point.

Scott,
these rapala's work for you.
You just throw them out there, and reel them in at a preferable speed.

Stets, Rapalas are great baits, no question. In clear water a shad rap is a great lure to throw.

Rebbassar,
I love and look foward to all your answers and opinions.
Remember your the reason I got that BPS extreme reel (5:2-1 gear ratio) and 6'0 M action rod combo sitting in my garage right now. I have caught over 10 bass on it so far, and I love it.

Rapala does make a good crankbait, and i use them alot, however, i have had some that have the trebles placed too close to each other and they hook together when casting long. You know immediatly when it's done it , you can feel it on the retrieve. I dont even remember the model, it's one of Rapala's mid diving CB in shad color.

You know. I haven't thought of a Shad Rap in years. I used to catch a lot of fish on them. I'll have see if they're still in tackle box. The number 8, shad color was the only one I think I ever caught a fish on.

I like Matzuo. Just had better success. I do use DT 6,10,16 on occassion. For shallow running baits haven't found anything better than Matzuo. For trolling walleyes I'll use Storm. I guess I use a lot but am partial in some cases.
