Default Root canal

I had one about a year and a half ago on molar #29, along with a crown. I somehow developed an absess at the root of the tooth. Would perhaps rather have a needle in the eye than this pain. Day one, Tylenol 3 wouldn't touch it, then on to Percoset that helped for short periods. (they worked better and longer at night when they were "aided" with Fireball cinnamon whiskey)

By day four I was taking Hydrocodone and oxycodone depending on the pain level. Haven't had a good nights sleep in days.

This morning at 8 AM, I had an apicoectomy with an Endodontist. Complete lower jaw nerve block and about 45 minutes of pushing and tugging that I will go to You Tube to see what it actually looked like. It sure felt crazy. Now it's rest, ice and Vicodin.

I don't want anything like this again for sure. Okay Vicodin...start working!

Go to You Tube and type in apiceoctomy. On second thought, do it after you have it.

The nerve block had me absolutely dead on my entire lower right jaw.

i've had a few root canals done. saved my teeth, well what i have left. this last one was a surprise to me. most canals are painful to endure right? well come see MY specialist folks. he shoots oyu up with pain killer and starts to work.....even the shots aren't that bad. then as he is working if he sees you BLINK like oyu felt some pain, he shoots MORE in there. i NEVER felt a thing. he will do all my root canals form now on. i even told him if i could afford it, he would do to all my teeth jsut so i wouldn't feel pain ever again. my teeth are and always have been kinda bad, sensitive and so on. now i have crowns, bridges mainly in the back. so if oyu need a canal, come down here, i got a GREAT fella for ya.

I feel for ya when it comes to toothache pain...I've delt with my share and then some over the years.

I had a traumatic experience with a dentist when I was 9 or 10, and it emotionally scarred me for life. As a teen, I had hoped I'd grow out of it, but to my detriment I never have, and unfortunately that has caused me to avoid dentists most all my life. Now in my 50's and needing more dental work then you can shake a stick at, I find myself wondering "What do I do next"?

As childish as it sounds, I'm terrified of going to see a dentist....not to mention without having dental insurance, I'm betting there won't be anyway to afford their services, even if I could bring myself to go. It sucks cause I feel like I'm sort of stuck between a rock and a hard spot with this phobia of dentistry, and in the mean time nothings getting done and my issues continue to get worse.

I wish I could afford one of those "Hollywood" smiles.....But someone would have to knock me out to do the work, and wake me up when its over...lol.

My work wife, Larry is his name, had the same problem. Terrified of the dentist and terrible teeth. He overcame the fear and finally went. He was amazed with modern dentistry. Not at all what he remembered and he is not "quite" as afraid as before.

I am not afraid of dentists but once one hit a nerve while injecting novacaine. I think it just might be more painful then delivering a baby.
Hope you're feeling better.
