Default Dragonfly

I just bought a Dragonfly for Capt Dave's new catfish/crappie boat. Got it at a rat killer deal. Anybody use one?

No, I think most of use rely on one of the "Big Two" but Raymarine has been known for a long time by the saltwater guys as a front runner. I've been hearing a little chatter about the Dragonfly in the kayak world. I'd be interested in your or Dave's feedback after some time using it.

I will attempt to do a before and after on this boat. It is an older Atlantic 19 foot CC that was a guide boat for many years on the bay. Mostly used for fly fishing and light tackle. It will be converted in to a catfish/crappie boat with 26 rod holders added and a bait tank. Two mounted coolers for seats and a non slip floor. Graphics will also be added to the sides. Will pickup this weekend and start construction. Will take lots of pics and show progress.

The Atlantic CC is known for a motor mount inside the hull but this one is custom with the motor hung on the back. It drafts maybe 12 inches and will handle 4 foot seas. It is 8 foot wide and very safe and stable.

So, you got me. The "Dragonfly" you bought is a boat, not a Raymarine SONAR? 19' long and 8' wide? Sounds more like a barge, but will you be using that on the Potomac?

No no the Dragonfly is a CHIRP sonar with GPS and will be mounted on the Atlantic boat. This boat was Capt Brady Bounds guide boat for many years. The whole project is for Capt Dave to use as a spider crappie and monster catfish boat. It can also be used to chase redfish in the shallows. We plan to do that for a week in Sept in VA barrier islands.

He has a skinny water tin boat already. It should be a good money maker and a great boat to boot.
