Live well

I was thinking of getting a live well for the boat. Mainly for transporting fish back to our neighborhood retention pond from other ponds that I fish at. Don't worry. I do have permission to take the fish from the other ponds. I would use a large cooler with an aerator for transporting in the car. I am just looking for something that I can put on my pontoon boat to keep them alive before I am finished. I used a stringer last time but I was told that wasn't a good idea. Maybe one of these:

This one would sit on the wire rack behind the seat. The only drawback to this one is that the added weight from the water. Combine that with the battery and trolling motor and I would be a bit back heavy.

This one floats in the water and I can tie a rope to it to allow it to float around a good bit without it pulling my boat around.

Go with a cooler, a fish tank aerator and a nine volt. Keep things cheap and easy. Don't forget the pitcher to fill the cooler.

Keeping things cheap would be going with the submersible net thing. Keeping things easy would be the cooler type thing. I have to calculate the approximate weight of the cooler thing filled with water and about 3 to 4 fish. The trolling motor, battery, fishing buddy, live well (with water and fish), food and drink cooler, and fishing tackle all must be around 170 to 180 pounds to not exceed the weight limit of the boat. The good thing about the net thing is that it would not add any more weight to the boat.

Gallon of water is 8.33lbs. Tell your buddy to go on a diet But the net will cause some drag on the boat.

Hey. It is only me on the boat . It is my one man inflatable pontoon boat that I am talking about. The weight limit is 400 lbs. The plastic tank would hold about 25 gallons full.

Estimated weights of what is going to be on my boat.
Me - 210#
Gear - 10#
Small battery - 20#
Trolling motor - 30#
Live well (3/4 full - 16 gallons) - 130#
Total weight - 400 lbs

This maybe the way to go even though I am right at the weight limit of the boat. However, I do want to be safe. I think being out in the middle of a lake or pond would be the wrong place to find out that there was no wiggle room in the weight limit of the boat. The net would cause some drag but it would definitely be safer (weight-wise). I am still unsure.

If I go with a basket, I will go with one of those. They are much less expensive than Cabela's.

I guess this is were I got confused.....didn't know about the boat type and weight limit. What's a fishing buddy? Other than a friend who fishes with you? Dog perhaps?

In the Book of the Black Bass by my long departed fishing buddy Jim Potts wrote

1941

Texas fisherman would place bass on a clip stringer and at the day place the fish in wet newpaper and some ice on top, two or three bass per cardboard box. Drive several hours to the next tank (pond) and release them. Alive and well.
