Wink What do you think

Fishing a completely new lake for a tournament and havn't had a chance to prefish. Water conditions are a little above normal, and murky.

The tournament is tomorrow and since all I have to go on is info from maps.live.com I thought I'd post a link and have a few other look over where I planned on beginning my morning.

http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=...cl=1&encType=1

the pictures were taken during a draw down so the exposed humps will be under water. If you see the Spill Way chute then the 2 exposed humps I think I can make out a silt trail of current behind those humps. I figured that would be a good as place as any to start.

Feel free to take a look at the map and offer any suggestions. There will be water backed up into all of the cypress feeder creeks you see on the lake.
It would be worth noting that we can only fish the Lower end wich on the map is the upper end with the exposed humps. It is pretty strange that the lower end is north of the upper end but its fed by a channel that runs south to north go figure.
Any help/ advice would be appreciated.

Disclaimer: I am no expert. Take any advice I give you with a grain of salt.

I'd start shallow, in the cypress feeder creeks you mentioned. Due east of those humps looks like a wide low area, can't tell if it's a creek or not from the satellite image. If it has water in it, hit that with reaction baits like pop'rs, buzzbaits, and spinnerbaits first off, and throw worms or senko-style plastics into the cypress knees.

Later in the day, I like the looks of that island in the far north end, and the channel between in it and the point. C-rig that point and beat it to death with some deep cranks. Those two points about 1/3 of the way up the skinny middle part of the lake look good, too. The last area that sticks out at me would be the northeast arm at the bridge. Hit that, too.

Good luck and let us know how you do.

you pretty much said everything we've planned MB. but still, if it doesn't work we're blaming you

our plan is to start on the south end but since the whole length of it is only around 4 miles hitting all the hotspots won't be hard to do between daylight and 2pm.

If it doesnt work, blame everybody else on this board. They're the ones that taught me 90% of what I know. And if you still have a problem with me, come to Jackson and we'll talk about it.

The lake didn't look very big in that image. That's why I mentioned everything I saw from far north to far south.

Fishing was tough.

Not a single bite untill noon, at noon we pulled into the first cove and I put on a spook just for the fun of it. Caught 1 near 2lbs then lost a damn good fish (4+ by my best guess) under the boat. I told lowrider if we get back to the weigh in and that fish would have put me in the money its gonna suck. Well we get back and everyone had a rough day the winner had a 4lb and a 12 inch dink . It sucks to loose the winning fish under the boat.

Still not as bad a day as lowrider.

Wow, that's bad. If lowrider's story is worse, I don't know if I want to hear it.

Ill spoil it for him. lowrider got a rod caught under the dog ears on the boat. Just put a little nick in it.

Well right after I lost my good fish he hooks up, I heard a funny sounding top water hit followed by a flash of a huge fish. At first I thought he had ole newt I grab the net and right as the fish is coming tward the boat I hear a "snap" and it's his rod breaking in half where the little nick was. To make things worse he happens to get the fish in netting range only to see its a BIG Grenell.

yup bad day all around, got my favorite rod (b&r outlaw) under one of my cleats and kinda cracked it...then a 10 lb grenel finished it off. oh well, already got it in the mail to take advantage of the awesome warranty outlaw offers. should have my new stick by the weekend. 2 of our club members broke t-motor mounts (minn-kota not so tough)
and no suprise the razorbacks got killed by bama.

lowrider, I lost a B&R to my rod locker door a few weeks ago. It took him a few days to send out the new one but I got it and everything went smoothly. I forgot just how light that rod is until I had it with the reel off, and how much I missed it when it was gone.

I have one paired up with a revo premier. A big spook weighs more than my rod and reel combined .

Limited two year warranty from date of purchase, please
read and fill out warranty card to qualify.

thanks bender but this is where outlaw beats 'em. especially since the $$ difference is only 20 bucks.
