Default Motor guide 71-any input

Guys, I am considering grabbing this TM off of craigslist. Based on what I have seen in my area, the price is good. I am just curious if anyone has any experience with this model.

I currently have a 24lbs thrust motor and need more power.

Thanks

I've heard only good things about MotorGuides. If it's in good shape, that's a great price, if the mount, pedal, and everything in the pictures is included.
That's a HUGE jump in power, Cass...what kind of boat do you have? If it's small enough to get by with a 24 lbs motor, this might be too big and wind up throwing you all over the place when you turn. Also, it's a 24v motor, so you'll need a second battery wired in series for it to run.

I have a 17'6" basstracker.
I figure that I won't be doing a whole lot of running on high.

Yeah, that motor sounds good, then. It's probably more than you really need, but you'll have a ton of run time per battery charge since you'll never run it very hard.

I would go for it if I were you, nobody ever wishes they had less trolling motor.

Personally I am not a big Motorguide fan, but that is a good price.

I tired to, but I was too late on the draw, I guess he sold it within the first 30 minutes. (I wrote within 45 minutes of the posting)

I picked up a Minikota 12 volt 54 lb thrust with power drive in excellent condition this winter for 200 bucks.. but shipping to the land of fruits and nuts is way too much.

Thats why I asked..as I was considering parting with it.

Cassidyta, I have a 71 lb foot control motor guide on a Norris Craft 1580/ Since this is only a 16 ft bass boat it is really to big but it will really jerk boat around and no matter how bad wind gets just turn it up and it will handle it. The motor is quiet and this One has a brute of a mount on it. Before would only use Evinrude electric because they were the quietest I thought but this one is nearly as quite as the Evinrude. Does not seem to be too hard on the batteries but on this size boat it is not having to work too hard. Use the blue top Optimas and will go 3 trips before getting weak enough to recharge so can not be pulling alot of electricy. Having a Motor Guide 36 volt 109# put on new NC.
Bought this boat used for the big motor that had been put on it and it had the Motor Guide on it and it was new. First time I turn control to 5 and hit foot trigger it nearly jerked me off the front deck. Could troll for walleyes or stripers if you wanted.
