Default Weekly Lake Fork Fishing Report

Well, the weather is still unstable. Here we are in August and another cold front is on the way. I wonder if the old timers are right about us having a really cold winter. Food for thought. Huh! The fishing is picking up and some good fish are being caught. The deep fish are hitting Texas, Drop shot, and Carolina rigs. The Tiki four inch smoke shad or Lake Fork Tackle baby ring fries on the drop shot or Carolina rig The swim baits are still working on the suspended fish. Start your mornings with wacky worms and top water and when the sun gets up move out deep. This weeks sun and hot temps brought the water temp back up some. Still in the mid eighties.
The wind has been light and this is a time we really need it. The lake has been like glass and the only relief has been to run the boat.
The crappie are starting to show up around the bridges and are getting bigger. A limit is getting a little easier. 16 to 18 feet is the magic depth. Small jigs and minnows are good choices.
Remember the Mc Donald tournament is only a month away and this is a good time to put you some brush out on a spot where you wont have twenty boats on you. Find some creek bends and drop you a few brush piles. Most fishermen wont take the time to do this. They will be the ones who will be complaining about all the boats on their favorite spot and you will be sitting out all a alone. This is about the right time to get the brush down so the fish will have a few weeks to relate to it.
