Default Extra heavy fast action

How many of you have an extra heavy fast action rod ( broomstick ) and actually use it? I'm thinking of buying one, just don't know if I would use it enough to justify buying it.

The closest rod to that I have is a 7'3" heavy/ extra fast. I use it all the time for froggin, pitchin jigs and t rigged plastics and spoons into heavy cover. Works very well with swimbaits too.

I love mine for 9 ball tournaments but I sometime use it for 8 ball.

Do you plan on flipping 1/2 - 1 oz jigs with it Ron? From looking around, 1/2 oz is the low side for most of the blank lure weights. This is not scripture, but light jigs may not get much of anywhere without enough weight to flex the blank for the cast or pitch. If you plan on chunking some serious lead like for punching and falling through thick cover though, it might be the go to for you.

GL-3 785, I bought it 17 years ago at dealers cost. I'm not sure I've even used it. Knowing what I know now or even several years after I bought it, I wouldn't have. I think a Hvy. fast action will serve the purpose, even in the most extreme conditions.

I use it every time I flip or pitch. More than enough backbone to wrestle any fish out of any cover.

The reason I asked is Simmons on Ebay has a Kistler 2009 (new) graphite 6'6" EXH fast action for $49.00. But I just don't think I need an EXH. I think I'll just get me another Bucoo in a heavy fast action.

I have two, Mattlures XH 7'11"(7'9"), for swimbaits, used almost exclusively lately(3-4x/week), both with Cardiff 401's, one with 25 lb. Big Game, the other with 65lb. PowerPro. Used primarily for throwing 8" Hudds, and heavy hard baits. I have an AllStar Big Boy 7'6" HF, for flipping/punching heavy cover, and smaller swimbaits(2 oz. range). These three rods have become the most used in my arsenal lately, along with a Mattlures H 7'11". Going to use one for my A-rig rod.

I'm in the market for one right now for froggin', swimbaits, and topwater (which is about 80% of my lure-fishing). I have a couple of lighter baitcasters and one spinning outfit that I use for everything else, but for those big Savage Gear, Black Dog, Imakatsu, Throwback, Rago, and Tru-Tungsten baits I have I really would like to have something bigger.

I have a St Croix Premier Heavy and it's great for throwing hollow body frogs a mile. The St Croix rods are often labeled by fishermen as being slightly heavier than rated. I think this rod would serve your needs.
