Default Fishing with a partner

So I love fishing alone not because I don’t enjoy company but my boat isn’t that large I like to sling to the side with 15” to 2’ of line hanging. I recently took out a kid who I have been working with (to get his GED and yes he’s legal) but also who wants to get into bass fishing. I fish a jon boat club….single man club but there is a team trail too so I told him we would start fishing that. Thought that I would hate it not because of him (he’s really a cool kid with a good sense of humor) but because of the crowded conditions and the fact that I would have to teach a little and start throwing overhand……not my favorite casting. I’m amazed at how quick he has picked up using a bait caster and I amazed at how much I enjoyed fishing with someone. Teaching him to fish away from the bank we were the only boat to catch fish and he got his first bass….. 5lb 9oz. I think I was more excited than him. Just really surprised at what I had been missing fishing with a partner. Of course didn’t pre charge the GoPro so missed his catch but got pictures

Wow! Those are some real pigs! I'm glad you found having a person along, and teaching that person about bass fishing was more pleasant and rewarding than you had expected. It's always great to see the younger generation showing interest in the sport. Well done buddy!

Very nice!
I prefer fishing with a buddy, but his wife won't let him come out and play but maybe once a year.
Apparently, I'm a bad influence.......

I may have come up with a plan though.
His wife loves venison, so he can hunt all he wants, but she doesn't eat bass.
So we need to dedicate a few minutes each trip to catch her some bluegills

That is awesome, Crankbait! Great job on taking him out and showing him the ropes. Catching great bass is a nice bonus on top of that! I'm really looking forward to the start of my "guiding season" for various family members and friends -- less than two months away now.

Maybe 45 minutes to cross the border and then another hour to get to my parents house, so then I can fish with my dad.

Awesome stuff CB. The thing that keeps me fishing by myself sometimes, is the will of the other person. I sit there and worry about if I am blocking them off or are they having a good time, or can they handle the dry spells. And even though I have a stable bass boat, a 200+ person walking from one side of the boat to other can through me for a loop if I don't know about. My boat is set up where you stand pretty close to the tip of the bow and it can cause a butt bite is someone make a quick hard move, so I simply ask for a head's up. If I don't get that from them, I bump a stump and show them how it feels hahahahaha.
