a basic search could answer this..you can hop it which sounds like what your doing, drag it across the bottom slowly, or deadstick it..dead sticking it is when you let it sit for a while (i usually let it sit for a minute or two depending on activity) and pop it and repeat...good luck..

ps- be sure to fill out your profile...

i usually make my rod go from 10 oclock to 12 oclock...many here have said this, the most common problem is people fishing it too fast...you just gotta slow down and be patient..i had the same problem then 2 of the members here (powerbass and njbassdevil my friends) started me over and helped me break some habits..just stick around the board, dont ask the same question, utilize the search, and listen well and youll get the hang of it...

remember to fill out the profile tho

dead sticking is letting it sit for a minute or two...then after the minute or two has passed just jerk it through the cover...
