Cherrywoods are the low end of the Berkley line, but they aren't bad rods. I still prefer the Lightnin' Rod, though.

So are you telling me that Ugly sticks are as good as the St Croix or the Fenwick They are a price point rod, and will probably never break, but I don't understand how you keep pushing them so hard, yet buy a St Croix I guess I'm just plain old confused

WELLLLLLL.....I wanna toss my hat into this ring, and tell you all, I wouldn't recommend an Ugly Stick for worm fishin or fishin jig heads, but I have to admit I started with one, and found it to be a reasonably good rod for the money, I still have it, after 23 yrs. I even went out and bought a Ugly Stick baitcaster. For the money, its a worthwhile investment, and I've caught lots of fish on them, including some nice bass. Now, I don't use either one anymore, they now hang on my wall as momento's to my "early days". I now use Berkley's, Loomis, Kistler, St. Croix, and Fenwicks. I do catch alot more fish now with the lighter/stronger graphite rods, but the ugly stick, IMO, was and always will be a decent rod for all around fishing, for beginners or for "just for fun" fisherpeoples.

ugly sticks are junk for bass fishing.they have way to much flex.this is the cheapest rod i would go with.save your money and buy something decent.

i can settle this real fast like....it goes like this...if you are new to the sport go to the store put the rod in your hand....pretend your casting it...do this with several rods....you'll know the one that feels the best for you....it doesn't matter how cheap it is....if your just beginning then it really doesn't matter your need to concentrate on presentation and selection of baits for the water conditions superseeds the rod selection at this point....when you get comfortable with yourself then move up to a little more expensive rod....so there....that's my story and i'm sticking to it......

sarcasm is saying something you dont mean to exxagerate it . and it doesnt travel on the internet. its kinda hard to tell the difference. if i made a giant lure, and someone said it was tiny, it could be sarcasm or their true opinion. i wouldnt know. i didnt see anything that was remotely sarcastic in your post though
