Despite what people may say about the garlic scent....it catches them! CB's is the way to go.

I think of Scent as a cover more than attractant, so put it on thinking that your covering your scent, just like hunters do.

Your not actually serious about WD-40 are you?

Here is the MSDS sheet on it. http://www.wd40.com/Brands/pdfs/msds...aerosol.us.pdf

It is petroleum-based so it should not really be used in the water. I know of people that use it and it does seem to work to remove scents from the bait but doesn't seem worth it with so many other safe products out there.

Another quote I found online as well:

Attract fish. When sprayed on fishing bait, WD-40 covers up the scent of human hands on the bait to better lure fish, according to USA Today. The WD-40 Company receives hundreds of letters from consumers confirming this use, but prefers not to promote WD-40 as a fishing lure since the petroleum-based product could potentially pollute rivers and streams, damaging the ecosystem.

One of our guides here uses nothing but black plastics and never uses any scent. He catches a ton of fish. BUT, it gives me confidence, so I use it - just like the Polo cologne did in high school. I don't think the girls cared either way, but it gave me confidence so I used it. It is partially responsible for Jolly being here. Just kidding son, I know you will read this. (it was actually the M.D. 20/20 that did it).

Yep. Ask Bassintom.

I once watched a guy spray live minnows with WD-40 and proceed to catch crappie after crappie after crappie. Apparently it really does work.

Wow, I guess you learn something new everyday. Probably won't try it, but really interesting.
