If it is near spawning season you might try to crawl a lizard over there bed or swim a swimmin' eye sunfish past there bed............ But try a wacky rig with Tiki sticks or a texas rigged worm and fish slow............ You might trigger a strick with a topwater lure such as a frog or a devil horse...................... Good luck hope you catch a big one

Your spawning period is probably over by now, even canada is covered on the chart by now.
Thats the way bass fishing is, you see a buddy catch a nice one a particular way, and you try to replicate it, but never seem to get that lunker..
Some of its "being there at the right time, right place"
other parts is just plain luck,
your best bet is to master the half dozen techniques like worm fishing, crankbaits, spinnerbaits, topwater baits, carolina rigging and jerkbaits n jigs
once you have all the ammo there and you know how to use it, bass fishing becomes more interesting and usually more productive,,
Just keep trying and you'll start getting fish
