Default Picked up a nice tip on last trip

On my recent tip to Tampa I did some inshore fishing. My son invited a friend a long that recently relocated from the upper left hand side of the country. (Washington)

He has all steelhead gear. He had 8 and 9’ spinning rods. He reloaded the reels with 6-8lb fluorocarbon on one and braid on the other. With the sensitive tip and extreme casting distance on the light or no weight set ups he was out casting us by 5-10’ as well as out fishing us.

I bought a two piece (my first two piece spinning rod in a long time) Okuma put on a Shimano Stradic C14 with 6lb Maxima fluorocarbon. I went to the lake and cast KVD’s 1.0 and 1.5 a good consistent 10’ further than bait casters or other spinners I had on board. I did not really have time to fish it for actual results of catching etc. (Too many weekend boats out) But I am going to keep it on board and I would think the doc and shore anglers could benefit from a steelhead rod fishing for bass. Kayak anglers could really benefit from the two piece feature.

Default Absolutely right!!!!

My ML steelhead pole has been getting more work catching bass in the past 3 years than it has steelhead. Nothing better for flipping light baits in heavy cover and having enough backbone to move the fish.

I ordered four more from Tacklewarehouse.com. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Okuma...cpage-0CC.html

I am digging this, I have a few upcoming tourns as a co angler and I see some benefits there as well. I have said it before and I will say it again, every quality fish I have ever caught in tournament conditions as a co-angler has come from a long or very long cast! Especially when the guy up front is running and gunning. With the heat out this way and clear water, you cannot run and gun in the late summer months and produce. This is why I cast long under those conditions besides deep is the obvious choice this time of the year, in the desert!
