well theres a great place i fish and my friend and me have always caught nice bass on trick worms or culprit worms t-rigged....but im lookin for a different lure to use in lillypads thats very effective...ne ideas??....its coverd with lillys and pretty clear water...water temps bout 89 outside air is bout 89 too

Lizards are unbeatable t-rigged weightless, black or green pumpkin. Hop them on top of the pads, let them drop in between them. Fish them everywhere and anywhere around and in the pads.

yeah ive tried those once...same color and everything..didnt produce a strike but hey thanks i mite buy sum more and try them again. i tried them t rigged not weightless. thanks man

I'd fish it in there if you're having luck with soft plastics. After that, I'd throw a frog...and a jig(but I'm still working on fishing a jig)

Tried a frog in my lilies and never got a strike. A guy that fishes the same pond said he got a 10.5 pounder on a frog in those lilies but I think he might be pulling my leg or exagerating.

in the lake i fish theres a small patch of lilys in a small cove you go down about 300 yards and its like heaven.when ever their not biting i go straight to there and thhrow a frog t-rigged wheighttless and boom!!!!!!!!

Yeah the place is a cove exactly like your describing but I cant get them to bite the frog.

Iv'e caught 2 5 lb bass with a weedless frog in lily pads, just cast it on the edge and reel it in slowly. No idea what it is. It has a split shot built in and it accualy looks like a frog.

Yea i about bought that frog Chum posted at walmart the other day it looked pretty real and i liked the fact that it was weedless i might get it when i go back

most are weedless make sure you get the one withe bead in it if it doesnt have it,then
a bead of a carolina would do fine

The best bait i used this year was a horny toad. Anything with red in it. Second best was a buzzbait. Yellow in color did the best,

never wacky rig in lilly's -good way to hang up- bob has it buzzer right over/through the pads is killer use a trailer hook and shorten the skirt to be level with the hook point. you want there attention to be forward on the bait not back..

Scum frogs with the skirt changed to a yellow/black skirt work em to the edge of the pads and stop em work em slow and hang on.

A part of catching them, is how the lure is fished, not so much which lure. For example, if you take a frog or lizard rigged weightless and texas rigged, even texposed...hold the rod tip up when moving the lure, it will crawl over the pads and when you come to an opening, let it fall and sit perfectly still for at least 25 seconds....then twitch pause twitch gently a couple of times before moving on to the next opening. Personally, I've had good luck with lizards by zoom, both 6 and 5 inch sizes in watermelon/red and green pumpkin. The lizards also work well in reeds if fished slowly and also pockets in heavy weeds.

Another thing is to look for something different in the pads. One lake here is full of pads but where you can find a log layed in them it seems to concentrate fish.

I had the same problem at first. To overcome it I let the bass take it a little longer. I use a 7ft. heavy rod with 50lb. power pro and get a good hookset. Tex-poseing the toad helps too.

texasposed the frog for sure. since i found a supply of 6/0 gamakatsu super braid hooks i have not had a non hook up problem on really fat baits like the frog or a super fluke.

I just came back from water. I used this one T-rigged weightless. (rig the snake tail upsidedown! it is very important to make the baits' action kind like Buzzbait). I used it as a top water lure! it works pretty well, and also a lot of fun. try it, you will love the way!

About any weightless plastic should catch fish in pads. I love weightless Senkos, Fat Ikas, Mogambo Grubs and Tiki Snakes.


A plastic frog or rat should work too.
