sorry to hear that! looks like you got the whole gamut on rod choices. The next time you get snagged, take the rod and reel out of the equation. Pull off enough slack to work with such that the rod and reel are not used in your attempt to free the snag. This will equate to a 0% of breaking your rod, unless you step on it! Just kidding. And as your tugging on the line to free the snagged lure, always pull away from your body to either your left or right, as opposed to directly toward you. If the lure snaps back at you, there is zero chance of it hitting or hooking you because its flight path is already to your side.

That's a pretty decent spinning reel you have. I also have an abu g cardinal 101 mated to an Okuma 7' ultralight.

Lucky, I gotta pay for everything I buy, and my Dad wouldn't let me buy a forty dollar rod.

try a Penn Purist, about 45 dollars at sports authority
shimano sojurn, about 20 dollars at sports authority, with or without reels
I like both of these rods, have them from ul to heavy salt water.
Penn spinfisher is another good one but goes for about 120 with reel, have not seen the fresh water ones with no reel.
