What is this boat worth???

As some of you may recall from a previous thread started about a bass tracker that I am looking at. Its either a 91 or 92 may be older, the guys not sure, its a Pro 17 model, has a 40 horse Johnson, all the electrical units work great, but the gauges do not work, it also comes with a brand new hummingbird fish finder, the floor is very sturdy with no bowing anywhere, this model is the one that does not have power trim which I didnt think was a big deal since they dont sit very deep in the water, we put the earmuffs to the motor and it started up with a little choking, it was cold blooded of course since it was 20 degrees but the motor seemed to run well, but i still need to get the compression tested for safe measure and he is also gonna let me take it out on the water before I decide whether or not to buy the boat, I am wondering what you think this boat is worth given my description and pictures, I dont know a whole lot on Bass Trackers and before I tell you guys what hes asking, I wanted to get an idea of what some of you might pay for this kinda boat, if I go through with the deal it will be my first boat, Thanks!!

I would not pay it because it is not my type of boat but I can tell you it would list for around 2500 to 3000 in St.Louis

One thing i would note.Is its winter and he didn't take the time to at least cover the boat.If he neglected to do that what else he might have neglected.Just something to think about.But i would say 2500.If everything checks out with the boat.

$2,500 would be the top end i would pay. but i would start at $1,500 and act like $2,000 was all i would give.

Well, the boat was in his pole barn, and he had to put the boat outside for a couple nights, and with the wacky weather we had been having, it snowed on the boat, but he is asking $2000, I offered $1500 cash, but he didnt seem like that would fly, so its sounding like $2000 is what its gonna take to get it!

KEEP LOOKING! I wouldn't pay $1500... give it time, I bet you'll see him come back to you. Looking closely at the pics there's a lot of rusty screws, rust on seat poles, debris & are those bags of potato chips under the steering wheel?.. just imagine how everything else has been cared for

25 to 3 most of the time. It will bring 35 in the early spring. how old is the motor?

I will ask him if he has maintenance records.
He's selling because he doesnt use it and needs money for a down payment on a harley for his wife.
He has owned the boat for 2 years.
No problems besides the gauges not working, had no problems with the motor.
He barely used the boat, took it out once last year.
When I test it out, Im gonna have a mechanic take a look at the motor.

The way I look at it, Im 21, have a limited income when it comes to buying a boat because of other payments, just paid my truck off, and due to work, Im only gonna be able to go out twice a week maybe three, just depends, and it will be my first boat. I just dont see spending anymore than $2000 on a boat that wont get used everyday. Im just stuck on making a decision. I just dont know what to do....

As long as you like it when you take it out and TAKE IT OUT!! For a first boat at 21 and for 1600 to 2000 it is a good deal. Just make sure no problems when YOU TAKE IT OUT.

i second carolina. trackerting loose and leeking afts and all rivet boats have a knack of geter some wear and tearr. 1500 is the top i would pay. plus i will NEVER have another pop-rivet alum boat, NEVER. just my opion. check out a welded alum boat before you commit.

Sorry, Im gonna say 1200-1400 tops. If he didn't take 1500 just keep walking. Heck, come to fl mines almost identical to his Ill sell it for 1200.

That boat is the second design 17ft trackers. Its a better boat than the first ones. 1500 is just about as high as I would go but if you like it and you think the boat is worth it 2000 is not to bad. Do yourself a favor and pick the boat apart. Bring up to his attention everything you find. I would be willing to bet you get it for the price ya wanna give.

If you clean it up I would say about 1900 max.

If he's willing to let you check out the motor, and test it on the water and all that meets your approval, but it and don't second guess yourself.

One thought, take 17 $100 dollar bills with you and pull them out of your wallet (which is then empty) and say this is all I have......would you part with it right now for that? Most guys will go for the cash.

If he says no, you can always say ok......my girl friend loaned me the rest, and you pull a 3 more from your back pocket.

jack, i like the way you think, flash the money and maybe he'll bite, haha, but i might take it out soon, if the weather stays nice that is, then ill see what happens, i guess it comes down to what i think is the right price, but thanks for all the opinions, its a big big help!!!!!! I got my first boat last year...Mine was 4 grand im now 19 me and my partner spilt the cost so 2 g's a peice ...we got a 2000 pro team bass tracker ...but the point im making is you my second guess it, but it comes down to the first time you land a nice fish in the boat or that one nice day out on the water ..then it pays for itself ...I would go for it !!!

Snow on a boat Glad I moved South Not a bad looking boat, but the first question I have, is if it was 20 degrees, and you ran the muffs on the boat, to get it running, did he make sure he got all the water out of the lower unit or antifreeze it before putting it away? Now you could get a frozen/cracked/damaged lower unit if it wasn't before. The boat is worth whatever you're willing to pay, or the next guy, is the bottom line. Any boat is better than no boat, but you need to figure all that out for yourself. Like I said for the year, it's appears to be in decent shape.

Arange a test drive. Then stop buy a marina & have it checked out, Give the guy benefit of the doubt. Then let the mechanic tell whatz wrong with it. Then offer less based what needs to be replaced.
