Default rigging plastics

How To Hook An "Offset Worm Hook":
The special thing about "offset worm hooks" is the shank on them is actually bent like this (see Front View picture below). Hooking your plastic lure like this makes the lure virtually weedless and you can, therefore, fish them in the thickest cover. These hooks are approximately 1 inch and a half long.

Texas Style:
The Texas Style rig is best used in heavy cover. This particular rig is virtually weedless. Always use the lightest bullet sinker possible that will still get the lure down to the proper depth. The hook is buried in the plastic worm. to do this you must have a special "offset worm hook".

Carolina Style:
Carolina style rigs are good for fishing just above the bottom of the lake.

Split Shot Style:
The split shot style rig is just like the carolina rig except it is more subtle. This rig is best in clear water or when fish are inactive.

Lead Head Rig:
This is basically only used for grubs. It is fished like the texas style rig but is not weedless.

You forgot the wacky rig, which involves taking a cigar shaped worm, and hooking it rightthrough the middle, and back in again. That's it. Easy, and deadly.

When using the offset hooks, do you leave the point burried in the worm or do you poke the point slightly through the worm?

you can leave it buried in or you can texpose it, you pretty much put the hook thru it strait up and then lay the part with the point on the side of the worm and just catch the tip under the plastic, best in sparse weeds

You also forgot the dropshot style, which is like a 3 way swivel rig, like you use for catfish, with the bait and hook extending horizontally, and the sink on the bottom.

Depends on the hook. With an offset shank worm hook the hook point stays in the plastic-at least the way I rig them, but the design of an EWG(extra wide gap) hook lends itself to more skin hooking-the business end of the hook will lay flat along the outside of the bait.

Double Carolina rig? It might be just that I suck at bass fishing right now but it seems that if I tried that, I'd be spending more time untangling the two leaders from each other.

Just try a texas rigged 4 inch curly tailed renegeade worm, in black, and drag it along the bottom with a steady, but slow retrieve.
