They claim you use them at night. I don't know for sure, I always use a buzzbait or popper for night fishing.P N J

A dark, cloudy day in muddy water or at night are probably the best places to use it.

Zooker,
I notice in many of your post about muddy water you refer to it as red, Up here in ohio the ground is brown/black and whenever we get heavy rains it just gots like choc milk then to a dark green. I am guessing in the south theres a ton of red clay, and after the rain it really reddens the water from runoff. Does it takes a long time to clear off? and my first thought is fish so tight to cover ya can pry 'em off the timber with a spatula....... any comments? |

JB, interesting you should ask about the water clearing. Having lived and fished in both OH and NC, I think the water clears much quicker in NC. It could be due to the clay that is prevalent here, or it may be that we haven't had much rain the two years I've lived here. There hasn't been a whole lot of run off where I live. The ground has been like a dry spounge. And as you know, southwestern OH seems to never go long without a pop up thunderstorm in the warmer months. So, the ground tends to be more saturated. Just my thoughts.

depends on the flow rate through the series of dams but rule of thumb is the next down stream lake will normally clear 7 days after the upper lake.
let me explain the term clear. in high rock lake clear is seeing a a spinner bait 24" down. tuckertown -the next lake down-same spinnerbait 36-40" down is called clear.the next lake down is badin clear is 48-60" lately it has been 70-90" this means you can see a spinnerbait laying on bottom in 7+ feet of water..almost northen style clear.. i like the water either stained to red mud as you pointed out pry them off laydowns with a puddy knife.. zooker
