What about...

If you were fishing a jig? A topwater? Swimbait? Would any of your answers change?

Expensive Reel: 11

Expensive Rod: 6

Buzzie, I really don't think it would make much of a difference what you were fishing.

I'm with most of the other opinions. It's all about the reel. My two rigs are an ABU C3 on a ABU rod, with braid for heavy work. And a REVO SX on a BP Extreme rod for everything else. Caught the $99 rod on sale for $60.

By the way, I bet buzz will spin the tires on that little ranger of his leaving the school parking lot...get it?

I won't know this answer for a long time... high end gear is hard for me to justify. With three kids, I've always got somewhere else for the money. Not too mention fishing time is limited... Some day, some day...

One, I don't get it. Two, what does it have to do with anything?

Brush, it's not nesicarily high end gear, it's which would you rather spend more one: whether it be $40 on a reel and $15 on a rod, etc, etc...

In that case I invest in the reel, less headaches with a quality reel...

Expensive Reel: 13

Expensive Rod: 6

I was expecting more to say reel, as it was where I saw this, but there they were almost even.
