Exclamation Angling NEWBIE

I'm brand new to bass fishing.
Ive fished for trout and some bass when i was a kid but i havent fished in years.
Im a big hunter so i never got time for fishing but now i need to find something to do outdoors while hunting season is over.
i loved it when i was a kid but cant remember a thing about fishing for bass.
can you help me?
with lures, where bass like to swim, what they eat, everything like that.
i need some help.

[my skill level: pretty much a beginner. I have a shakespeare ugly stick with a spinning reel. I live in WA state. Ill mostly be fishing for both large mouth and smallmouth bass but more large mouth. Ill be fishing from both bank and boat. I would like to fish with lures and bait both. ill be fishing lakes most likely. Its mostly a murky color.]

Welcome. Wow, that's a really wide open question. Can you tell us a little more about yourself. Such as:
1.What's your skill level? Can you cast a baitcaster, spinning reel or closed faced reel?

2.What part of the country do you live in?

3.Will you be fishing for largemouth, spots or smallmouth bass?

4.Will you be fishing from a boat, tube, from the bank or something else?

5.Do you want to fish with lures, live bait or both?

6.Will you be fishing lakes, streams or farm ponds?

7.What is the predominate color of your water? Clear, stained, murky, etc?

You might consider a book on bass fishing basics. Again, welcome.

Default sorry for the long post broad question

get some worms in pumpkinseed and some in black or purple.

bullet weights

extra wide gap (ewg) hooks
texas rig these worms and cast out let it sink and raise you rod tip up then let is sink back down leave it alone for a few seconds then repeat.
or try short of long sweeps then pause. let the fish tell you what they want.

spinnerbaits in black and blue and one in chartruse with wite
cast these out and you can either burn it back just under the surface or let it sink to the desired depth and reel steady. try to reel then pause for a second then give it a little twitch and start reeling again. some talk of slow rolling it on the bottom but i haven't done this.

a few cranks bandits are cheap and work well. match the depth you want to fish at and bounce them off of as much stuff as you can. when you feel it hit a rock or stump pause for a few seconds then start crankin again if nothing hits.

color is not my area for cranks wait until Zooker replys i hear he is the crankin god.

feed the bait monkey as much as you can but watch out for him he will talk you into skipping meals for a few extra bucks for a new lure.

live worms and minnows or crickets on a straight hook with a split shot about 8 to 10 inches from the hook under a float work well. if you are not getting bites try to change the depth of the float or try anothe spot

rattle traps strike king red eye shad in crome and blue
cast out and reel back in. or yo yo in back in. these are what you call a dummy lure cause anyone can use one.

don't be afraid to cast worms and spinnerbaits into grass or laydowns.

well this should get you started and i am no pro just a guy thats loves to fish. the others will add to it and may disagree with me on some things but thats the beauty of fishing its all up to YOU what you use and how to use it.

ps ask bamabassman about the famous helicoper lure!!!

I'd do some reading first. This might be a good place to start.
