Default Spare Reel Spools

How do you carry/travel with them? I went looking at the hardware store but didn't really find anything. I used a paper towel roll but it was too fleemzy imo so I canned it. Any ideas ? do you carry spare reel spools?

Also do you spend more on your rod or reel/ or do pair them with price range in mind? For instance you buy a Steez rod but you put a low grade reel on it. You buy a Steez reel and you put in on say a hundred dollar or lower rod. Lastly You buy a Steez reel and the steez rod? Which do you perfer and whats your reasoning?

You can store your spare spools in a Tupperware. I do carry spare spools mostly for my spinning reels, for my baitcasters, well my old Abus had interchangeable spool system and I have a couple of extra spools for each one of them, with the others I take with me the reels I´m most likely to use in a trip.

I spend pretty much the same ammount of money in the rod and the reel. If I had to choose between a killer reel and a killer rod I´d rather have a regular reel on a killer rod than a killer reel on a regular rod.

I carry some of my spare spools but to be honest if a reel goes down I just reach in the rod locker and grab another one.

I try to match my rods and reels but if I had to have one better it would be the reel. Rods are very important but I will take a decent rod and smooth reel over a great rod and clunky reel.

I wouldn't consider taking extra baitcaster spools on the water with me.There are bearings in the majority of spools, there is an increasing amount of stuff that could contaminate the bearings when not installed in the reel. You might say what stuff ?. Look closely at the bottom of your tackle packs, even stuff gets in plano boxes, where does it come from ?Roflmao...

I would rather buy a upper end rod than I would a upper end reel. The rod does the majority of your fishing,to a degree, the reel is nothing more than a line tender. It allows line to go out and it brings it back in .You can't substitute light bite feel with the most expensive reel in the world, it comes from having a quality rod, but then again if your spending time on the water picking out backlashes time after time, your quality rod is not getting used for its purpose. I really believe that what you spend more money on should depend on the presentation. Example, for your drop shot combo, you dont need the nicest reel, but you need to feel light bites.
