Default And then, those darn speciality baits

.....known only to your area?
Some lakes have that secret color or style lure that all the locals know produces fish..
so heres one I wonder if any out there have heard of ..a Sweeper... a plastic craw imitator that has a unusual fall...I found out about it fishing the river and have seen several blogs of river fishermen that still list it as a fav..my fav is brown craw with chartruse tips

That pic does looks just like a reaper doesnt it?
The sweeper is a hand poured plastic that is much wider like a leaf, and when its rigged texas style is falls from side to side "sweeping" the area kinda like a leaf falls in autumn...the reaper is a tad narrower..and like I said, this may very well be a local bait.. I used to find them in Lawerenceburg Ind. tackle shop that sold a ton of Zoom plastics and many many locals plastic 'erms and grubs etc..
I guess 10 years goes by fast .lol thats the last time I bought any,, they were real salty and I liked the feel of it, just something dif, i guesss for those skinny ohio river bass :P

The original manufacturer and name for that bait is the Salty Reefer by Mojo Lures, they are one of those west coast ( Kaliforny to be exact ) baits designed to be fished in the ultra clear ultra deep Californian lakes, I´ve been fishing with them for well over 15 years and caught very good fish with them.

Yup ya just rig em texas style or carolina it like a french fry
I guess the biggest dif. I see in those reapers vs. the
sweeper is that the sweeper has no neck to speak of.
Its like most baits, here today and gone tomorrow till some pro scores a hit with it and 2 weeks later endores it with a new sponcers boat lol

Never used 'em much, but they're certainly not new. I recall reading about them in Fishing Facts 30 years ago.
