ZOOM Super Flukes

I picked up a pack of Zoom flukes today, in a white shad looking color, 4 inches in length, how do u fish these kinds of lures? Thanks.

first i recomend 5/0-6/0 ewg hooks. either weightless, or t-rigged with a small weight..kind like a jerk bait. remember to rig it so the hook point ends up in the lil pocket. a small kink in the body will give the bait more movement..

Ya like the kink? I always thought the action all depended on the rod and the force of the twitches

I use a 6ft med spinning rod with 10 Lb line. I also use a swivel about 14 inches up from the hook, this will stop some of your line twisting. Then I go with a 4 or 5 EWG and hook it up just the way the previous two do. Fish it around stumps, laydowns or what ever structure you have. Don't twitch or jerk too hard, just be subtle and let the fluke work for you. Good luck. And happy fishing

I think a 5/0 or 6/0 EWG is on the large side for a 4" Fluke. Also, if it's a plain Fluke, I think it doesn't have a hook pocket, whereas the Super Fluke Jr. does have one. I believe they're both 4".

Hey,I usually decide first how and where i'm going to fish it.I've used every size from a 1/0 up to a 4/0.If i want it to swim deeper i'll go with the bigger hook and if i want it to stay towards the top i'd go small.I mostly use wide gap hooks cause i get a better hookset and with the wide gap it keeps the lure from twisting to much cause the weight is lower.Experiment with where you have the hook come out it will really effect the action.I fish them on a 6'6ft mh spinning outfit with 10 to 12# line.The fluke jr's are also good.1/0 hook works perfect with these.For smallies these are great for the river.Later

I wouldn't go any smaller than a 3/0 or even 4/0 on a fluke, theres a lot of plastic to go through for a 1/0 or 2/0 size hook IMO

I use my weightless. i jerk it then i let it sit for about 3 seconds. jerk it slowly, and use a heavier hook.

Check them and make sure that they are flukes? I've got tons of them and all them have hook pockets.

All the big flukes I've seen have a big slit for the hook to go through,
the ol sluggo's had a slot in the opposite direction I think

I think sluggos are flat on one side. And you're right! They have two or three slots going across on the rear top half. Got some but been so long since I've used them.

Super Flukes are 5 1/4" long. Super Fluke Jr's are 4" long. Both have pockets for hook insert. The Fluke is 4 1/4" long and Tiny Fluke is 2 3/4" long. No pockets in either of these or should I say they didn't have last time I bought some. I love the Super Fluke in white pearl (so do the bass).

For some reason the white fluke wasnt as good as the green mellon color for the place we fish,
I think white probably is better most of the time when the fish are used
to seeing shad

Any one use Danny Joe's floating worms ?Humphries is his last name, thread the hook to follow the seam line left by the pour mold casting with no kink in the worm.It will swim like a minnow.

I fish the res out on 547 with a white fluke on a 3/0 eagleclaw sproat worm hook (straight shank with barbs near the eye) for smallies and largemouth.
It's pretty clean out there, so just stick it through the nose and thread it on with the flat side up, the hook is exposed for better hookups. I try to rig it as straight as possible, but try different ways to make it have different actions. I put a drop of super glue at the head and where the hook bend comes out, this helps catch a few more fish before it's tore up.
Sometimes I fish it weightless, but most of the time I cut a finishing nail in half and shove it in the belly.
Try to parallel the shoreline, twitching and pausing.
Flukes also work good in res 4. Hope this helps.

they make flukes and super flukes. the super flooks are the ones with the hook pockets in them. the reguar flukes dont have the hook pockets.

I live in Fremont, and fish Erie as much as possible, I usually fish the area reservoirs in the spring/early summer and let the duck hunters have them this time of year. With the water temps falling the way they have the last couple weeks, it's time to switch over to fishin at nite for toothy critters off the piers up at the lake.
