2 pc rods

A friend of mine wants a 2 pc rod. Either 6'6" or 7' mh. He wants to stay under $100. Anyone have any good recommendations. Mainly to be used as an all around rod, i.e. plastics, spinnerbaits.

My absolutely best recommendation is to NOT buy a two piece rod! As for as brand and actions, buy the best rod he can afford in a medium action for an all purpose rod.

I would agree. I had 2 piece rods and bought a one piece cheap L/M and can't belive how much more you can feel with it. I will never buy a 2 piece again unless its to break done in my car.
Tell him to go to Walmart or a local store and test some out. Basspro, or any other local outdoor store. Should beable to get a good one for that price. I know I have.

I tried talking him out of the 2 peice but he insists. He said he wants to leave it in his truck. It would be mainly used for river fishing from the bank. He is aware of feel, etc. but his needs are 2 peice. Thanks.

Check out the Shimano Clarus line, most of them are 2 piece and cost around $60.

i use 2-pcs ONLY because i have a small car and cant fit a 7 foot or 6'6 in my car. it blows because i love 1 piece rods

Many people say that 2 piece rods are junk, like always, they will be junk if you purchase junk. I do have 2 piece rods, I purchased them because where I´m at it´s not easy to walk around the dense thorny vegetation that grows around the lakes with a 1 pice rod when I´m on the foot patrol on small alkes and ponds.

If you purchase a good quality 2 piece rod you got to be a supernatural being to notice the insignificant difference in sensitivity between a 1 piece and a 2 piece rod.

It´s 12,600 yen ( about $120 ) and let me tell you, mano a mano against a GL2 or an Avid it makes them run for their lives in the sensitivity and rod weight department, in the looks department compared to it the GL2 and Avid are stone cold dead.

I've never owned a 1 piece rod, so I'm not sure what I'm missing. Not that a one piece is an option, I can't cram a 7 footer in my car, and portability is a big factor.

I just broke my rod last fall (an Ugly Stick - I know, I know, but that's all I've ever used), and I'm looking at getting a 2 piece Carrot Stix.

hey..there ain't NOTHING wrong with the ugly stick. very good rod pal. rods and reels depends on what ones wallet allows them to get.

It´s a killa rod Bama, got that one and a 2 piece ML sinning rod of the same manufacturer ( BaitMonkey made me purchase 2 rods to "save" in shipping charges from Japan ). I own GL2s, IMXs and GLX, let me tell you something, those two babies are certainly some of my favorite rods, not only they are beautifull but also very well made with very nice Fuji components.

Just don't buy another one. They have absolutely no back bone for setting the hook.

I drive a Hyundai Elantra hatchback and with the rear seats down I can easily accommodate more then a dozen 7 ft setups, two sets of 7 foot oars and enough tackle, plus my milk crate with all sorts of needed non tackle stuff, a 15 lb anchor, etc for two guys.

I have to tell you, that is a Japanese import rod, you have to order it to Japan, you can order it here: www.plat.co.jp. I strongly suggest that before jumping on the bandwagon tell your friend to write them an e-mail inquiring if the rod is in stock.

Ordering stuff from Japan is not like ordering form a US vendor, things work different there, manufacturers close their operations during the off season ( winter ) and don´t resume operations until spring so a particular item may or may not be in stock with the vendor or with the manufacturer.

Regardless of that I do seriously recommend that place, I´ve done many purchases with them and their service is top notch.
