That's a good rod. Due to the lakes I fish I don't throw a frog that much, but when I do it is on a Falcon flipping Stick. Works fine for me.

I've had my Daiwa LT frog rod about a month now and its an outstanding rod for frogs. I was using my 7' flipping stick before and thought it was good, but this things great.

I was using a Kistler 7ft mh until I broke the tip. Then I was using a Premier 7ft heavy. Both rods worked very good. Now I use a Kistler mag. frog rod. I love this rod. I looked at the Daiwa frog rod. I considered it and the Shimano frog rod also. I think you'll be safe with any of these three.

when i first got in to frog fishing i was using a7'6'' x-heavy flippin stick.. i liked the action but disliked the weight..after careful consiteration and several long talks with deacon. i decided on a 7' heavy action fenwick hmx frog stick..it has enough back bone to yank them out of the weeds. the soft tip allows for longer cast. and it weighs half what my old flippin stick does..

i know this will start fly swatter on one of his weight rampages..

Big bang for the buck. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/descp...ER-KGPTWS.html# . It has the right amount of tip and back bone needed for "Froggin' ". The Daiwa would be a close second

Now it would be rude of me to say I told you so, so I won't LOL. I am sorry to hear about that, always stinks breaking a exspensive rod.

Just send it to Kistler and they will send you a new one with no questions.

Lizzards, I broke it in the back of my truck. Flippin. I put a new tip on it and it works fine. It broke off about 2 inches from the tip. I used to carry my rods in the boat, exposed. I read on another post the reels will pick up road dirt and grime. So now I carry them in the back of the truck in a case. Which I didn't have when I broke the Kistler.

Let's make a distinction 'twixt "Frog" and "Toad".
In general parlace a "Frog" would be something along the lines of a SPRO Frog or any of the weedless "Rats" and other variants of lures that are intended to be fished in stops, starts, pops, twitches, and other dance forms (not to include the Lambada, Minuet, Waltz, or "Roger de Coverly".)
As such, a rod that might be used for a large topwater (See: Spook) is my choice, since with that I can accomplish the aforementioned moves as well as "Walk the Frawg" ala Spook.
Now, the "Toad", as most of us understand it, includes the ZOOM Horny Toad, the Ribbit, Gambler Cane Toad, etc, et al. These lures are generally "buzzed", since they readily sink when paused. Ergo, I use and recommend the same rod with which I toss standard buzz baits.
Reels? Well, for my Spook n' SPRO work, something along the lines of a Curado 200BSF spooled with, ohhh, maybe 12-15 test P-Line CXX. I MIGHT go to braid if fishing in dense slop, weeds, or pads.
For toads (and buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzbaits), the Abu Revo SC (the red one, found only at Cabela's,) which is made ONLY in 7:1 retrieve. Line? #30 P-line Spectrex braid. The 7:1 makes it far easier to get 'er started and keep 'er on top. Less crankling too.
Currently I'm using a Lowrider 5-17 for the toad and buzz biz but am in the market for something of the same length with a slightly faster tip.
For the Spooks and SPROs I use a 6-4 rod "technique specific" to the task.

Let me get this straight?

They have a toad rod now? Man that is marketing.. find a bait that works well and slap a sticker on a rod and call it a toad rod..

What happened to the days when you picked up the rod and said I could use that..

"fishing tackle and lures are for catching fisherman first and fish second"

My dad used to say "spend your way to competancy"
